2025 MegaIce Hockey 5’s Ice Hockey Tournament, Hong Kong

(Youth Division: April 24 – May 3, 2025; Adult Division: May 5-10, 2025)

The MI5 tournament was once again a thrilling and demanding challenge for all our teams. Each division took to the ice with the goal of winning gold, and while only the U13 team brought home the top prize, our U7 and U15 teams proudly earned silver medals. Of course, we always aim high, but sometimes the experience itself is the real reward. Every player gave their best effort, improving with each game. Some even stepped up to play in older divisions and handled the pressure with confidence. Others embraced new roles within their teams, contributing to their personal growth and adding depth to the squad.

Throughout the event, we faced strong opponents that reminded us of the importance of maximum continuous effort if we want to stay competitive and consistently reach the podium. The support from parents played a huge role in creating a positive atmosphere, and their energy made the tournament especially memorable.

Across all age groups, our teams showed impressive potential and learned valuable lessons. The U9B team displayed perseverance and steady development, while the U9A team demonstrated strong technical skills, though their finishing could use some improvement. The U18 team played high-level hockey, despite facing challenges with teamwork and scoring efficiency. Looking ahead, improving offensive execution and building stronger team chemistry will be key to more future success. The U13 team’s gold medal victory was a fitting final chapter in their journey together. After a rocky start, they bounced back with determination, dominated their group, and ultimately came out on top in the finals. Their win against the Tigers was especially sweet, as it avenged last year’s defeat and came in front of their home crowd. The emotions ran deep, particularly in the locker room where two beloved teammates shared heartfelt farewells. It was clear that this group had built something truly special through years of effort and connection.

Meanwhile, the U15 team’s silver medal showed both achievement and room to grow. They made a bold statement early on with a win against the Tigers but later faced defensive challenges against good teams like Gold Club. Still, they adapted well, pulling off a gritty playoff win against the Tigers and proving they could create chances even against top-tier goaltending.

These journeys, one celebrating a chapter’s end and the other building momentum beautifully reflect the heart of our program. The tournaments weren’t just about winning medals; they were about resilience, teamwork, and the lifelong lessons gained from striving for excellence together.
